Non-traditional Christmas shows are becoming more and more the norm.  But every time we think that every story has been taken and parodied, another new production emerges.  Hell in a Handbag Productions is proud to present it’s mix of Silence of the Lambs and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.  This is our first venture with Hell in a Handbag and we’re excited to be  a part of this show, which has already been getting great reviews.  If you’re sick of the usual holiday swill, and are a fan of campy horror, be sure not to miss this.

For two years, Chicago Children’s Theatre has been presenting phenomenal productions for both children and families including A Year with Frog and Toad, 4-ish, and Go, Dog, Go.  Now, to kick of the new year, CCT is excited to present The Selfish Giant at the Little Theater.  In order to help promote this new show, direction is expanding it’s already famous “family route” to include locations in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago.  If you live in or around Hyde Park be sure to keep an eye out for our street team, and for Selfish Giant flyers in shops and boutiques everywhere.

This past weekend, we had the privilege of working a unique event in Salt Lake City, UT. Qwest Communications and 361 Experiential collaborated offer the opportunity for people to come and get their holiday presents wrapped by members of the Utah Jazz Dancers at South Towne Center.  The event was a huge success and were able to raise a sizable donation to the Boys and Girls Club of South Valley.  At direction, we’re able to staff and execute events all over the country, even as far away as Salt Lake City.  We offer the same services and customer satisfaction there as we do in our hometown of Chicago.

Most of us are accustomed to staying up all night on New Years Eve, and going to bed at 8 AM New Year’s day.  But for folks in Pasedena , CA. they party and camp out along the parade route for the annual Rose Parade that preceedes the Rose Bowl.  Our staff will be hitting this one early passing out American Idol slap bracelets and free t-shirts in anticipation for the upcoming season to those who brave the pre-parade madness.

We are very jealous of our team members down south who will have the opportunity to hit up a sandy beach prior to this championship game. While we freeze in Chicago, our staffers will be promoting in Miami at the BCS Championship, handing out key chains for the new season of 24.  What does season 7 have in store for Jack Bauer? You’ll have to tune in to find out.

Directed by Danny Boyle, Slumdog Millionaire is garnering praise from critics all around the globe, and has already claimed a few pre-oscar awards.  The movie is playing at various theaters in Chicago, and other select cities.  Our team of streetmarketers will be hitting various events to get the word out.  Look for us the day after Christmas at Sonotheque for Karsh Kale, as well as other venues and events in Chicago.

Slumdog Millionaire is playing now in select cities, and opens nationwide December 12th.

Besides being known for all of the great concerts and events that blow through their doors, Old Town School of Folk Music is first a foremost a school.  Offering a wide range of classes, OTSFM prides itself as one of the best places to learn a variety of techniques.  Guitar classes offer everything from Guitar 1 to John Prine Songbook, and everything in between.  If you register for 8 week classes that begin on January 5th before December 29th, you’ll save $15.

At direction, we work with many local businesses, venues, and theaters in Chicago.  But, we are a nationwide company, so our business reaches all across the country. Currently, we’re working with some of our neighbors to the north in Wisconsin.  From now until early next year, the Milwaukee Art Museum presents Act/React, an interactive art event that focuses on “motion-dependant” art.  We always enjoy working with unique artistic events, and are very excited to be a part of this exhibit.  Milwaukee Art Museum wishes to expand it’s promotional reach to the northshore suburbs of Chicago, and we feel confident that we can help them in accomplishing this goal. Keep an eye out for the brochures, which will be distributing at various retail outlets.

Returning for it’s third year here in Chicago, the Snow Queen is a wonderful holiday show for the entire family.  Based on the classic tale by Hans Christian Anderson, the Snow Queen is brought to life on stage with a wonderous musical score and amazing puppetry that will entertain audiences of all ages.  This is the first year since Victory Gardens has taken over the legendary Biograph, and looks like they will wrap up the year with much critial acclaim.

The Snow Queen is at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theatre from now until December 28th.

Ever wanted to sign up for an art class or workshop, but been to self concious about your own artistic ability? As stated in their mission, Lillstreet Art Center prides itself on being a lively community of artists working in a non-competitive environment which encourages and inspires artistic growth in the individual.
