Green Day @ United Center

images-1Green Day’s much anticipated follow up to the Grammy award winning American Idiot, final arrives on May 15th, along with the start of the 21st Century Breakdown Tour.  With dates scheduled all over the world, and through October, this is looking to be one of the hottest tours of the year.  If you’re near the Chicagoland area, be sure to pick up your tickets when they go onsale this Saturday.

 

Green Day plays the United Center July 13th.  Tickets go on sale May 16th at 10:00am.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch-Extension

banner_hedwigBack by popular demand, American Theater Company’s production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch has been extended through May 31st!   If you didn’t to see it last time around, you have until the end of the month to catch it.  ”This is a Hedwig like none before” says ATC Artistic Director PJ Paparelli. “Think Blondie meets Bowie.”

Hedwig and the Angry Inch is at the American Theater Company through May 31st.

June at the Chicago History Museum

chm2Summer is almost here, and the Chicago History Museum has lots of events lined up for the month of June.  A special boat tour sponsored by Goose Island will cover Chicago’s beer history during a sunset cruise.  In addition to the various cruises, CHM will also offer kayak tours on the Chicago River, and Project Sundays brings an interesting look at the world of fashion with the screening of a Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton documentary.

Chicago History Museum is located at 1601 N. Clark St.

Love Person @ Victory Gardens Biograph Theatre

Love Person asks the question, “can love transcend sexual orientation, physical attraction, and social structure, and rely instead on the ways in which people communicate?” Two couples, three cultures, and four languages blossom, break, sustain, repair, and flourish in this language laden love mystery, performed in American Sign Language, Sanskrit, English, and projected e-mail. This is the Chicago premiere of Love Person, and we are excited to be working another streetmarketing campaign with Victory Gardens.  Keep an eye out for flyers and posters at locations near you!

Love Person opens May 15th at Victory Gardens Biograph Theatre, and runs through June 14th.

Lillstreet Summer Classes

lillstreetWith the arrival of spring (finally), Lillstreet is gearing up for their summer classes and sessions.  Offering courses in printmaking, painting, drawing and glass, Lillstreet is the place to go to learn one of these unique trades whether you’re a novice, or a seasoned crafts person.  There’s also Kidstreet, which offers classes for children.  Summer courses begin soon, so sign up now!

 

Early Summer classes at Lillstreet begin June 1.  Summer Classes begin July 8.

Roberto Benigni @ Harris Theater

Roberto Benigni brings his critically acclaimed one man stage performance TuttoDante to the U.S.!  Inspired by Dante’s “Divine Comedy”, TuttoDante begins with current events including Benigni’s personal memoirs. We’re helping the Harris Theater promote this highly anticipated performance through our various streetmarketing initiatives. Benigni is best known for his 1997 role in “Life Is Beautiful” which won 3 Oscars.

TuttoDante is at the Harris Theater June 12th.

Dream: A Circus in One Act @ Actors Gymnasium

Dream is a family-friendly circus production that follows one man’s fantastic and surreal dream journey.  This is our first endeavor with the Actors Gymnasium and we are excited to be working with them.  We mounted a door to door distribution campaign in Evanston and the surrounding areas.  Be sure to catch the show The Chicago Reader called ”perfect for families, with plenty of wit for grown-ups.”

Dream is at the Actors Gymnasium at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center in Evanston through May 17th.

The Modern Wing @ The Art Institute of Chicago

It’s been a long time coming, but this Saturday, the highly anticipated Modern Wing of the Art Institute opens to the public.  If you live in the city, then you’ve watched as the construction took place right before your eyes.  Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano, the Modern Wing provides a new home for the museum’s collection of 20th- and 21st-century art. Nearly a decade in the making, this 264,000 square-foot building increases the size of the Art Institute by a third, making it the second largest art museum in the United States. Be sure to check it out!

The Arabian Nights @ Lookingglass Theatre

arabain-nights-old-time-phopreviewWhen he discovers his wife is having an affair, King Sharayar swears to kill every virgin in the kingdom. His plan is interrupted however, when he encounters the maiden Scheherezade, whose captivating stories may just save her life.  We are happy to be working with the Lookingglass again, and are in middle of an aggressive street distribution helping to promote the opening of this fantastic production. The Arabian Nights was adapted and directed by Tony winning ensemble member Mary Zimmerman.

Lookingglass Theatre’s The Arabian Nights opens May 20th at Water Tower Water Works.

Rock ‘n’ Roll @ Goodman Theatre

The Goodman is known for their elaborate and diverse shows.  Now, Rock ‘n’ Roll comes to the stage.  Spanning 3 generations, it tells a love story synced to a  classic soundtrack that includes The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, U2, John Lennon, and The Doors just to name a few.  We’re very excited to working with the Goodman once again, and are in midst of an aggressive marketing campaign to get the word out. Rock ‘n’ Roll is directed by Charles Newell.

Rock ‘n’ Roll is at the Goodman Theatre through June 7th.
