Dos XX – Most Interesting Academy

the_most_interesting_academy_logoEveryone is familiar with The Most Interesting Man in the World.  Now, Dos Equis is offering people a chance to enroll at The Most Interesting Academy.  The Academy, which features instructors such as Bear Grylls and Chris Fischer, offers online courses, webisodes and in-person demonstrations about how to be more interesting.  Dos Equis will also be visiting various cities in order to hype The Most Interesting Academy, including  a stop in Chicago.  We will be managing the events for Dos Equis, which will include free samples of product as well.  Be sure to check us out!

Dos Equis’ Most Interesting Academy will be in Chicago August 6th through 8th.

Warped Tour!

images1Summer always brings annual concert tours.  But, in the last few years, we’ve seen Lollapalooza become a 3 day festival, and Ozzfest cancelled.  Warped Tour though, is still going strong!  Barreling through over 30 cities with 100 bands, Warped Tour is the premier punk showcase.  We’ve been organizing promotions in various cities to promote Forever the Sickest Kids.  If you’re attending shows in Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, or Kansas in the next few weeks, keep an eye out for our team hanging and distributing posters throughout the venue.

World Music Wednesdays @ Old Town School of Folk Music

29_megitzaIn addition to their stellar fall concert lineup that just went on sale, Old Town School of Folk Music brings you World Music Wednesdays.  Every Wednesday, OTSFM presents a different local or touring world music act.  Upcoming performances include Taj Weekes and Adowa, Los Amancay, and the Megitza Quartet and Siumni.  Be sure to check it while it lasts!

World Music Wednesdays at Old Town School of Folk Music occur each Wednesday through September.

Dream Theater and Zappa Plays Zappa @ Chicago Theater

dream-theater-328Prog rock fans rejoice!  Dream Theater is bringing it’s Progressive Nation tour back to Chicago!  This time they’ve enlisted Dweezil Zappa’s,  Zappa Plays Zappa to open up on this latest endeavour.  We’ll be distributing posters to music gear stores throughout the city and surrounding suburbs for this upcoming show, so keep an eye out for the materials.

Dream Theater and Zappa Plays Zappa perfom at the Chicago Theater on August 23rd.  Tickets are on sale now.

Old Town School of Folk Music – Fall Concert Piece

15_dengueEven though it seems like summer has just begun, fall is lurking right around the corner. With that in mind, the good people at the Old Town School of Folk Music have released their fall concert line up.  It’s a stellar list chalked full of amazing acts.  Artist include Ritchie Havens, Leo Kottke, and Dengue Fever.  If you’re already a member then you’ll be able to purchase your tickets early on July 24th, so take advantage of that amazing bonus.  Today begins our full scale distribution of fall brochures that detail all of the upcoming acts.  Be sure to grab one for more info!

Newberry Library Book Fair/Bughouse Debates

cover_sum07ppOver the past quarter of a century, the Newberry Library Book Fair has cemented it’s status as one of the city’s most popular used book binges. Come check out the amazing deals, and don’t miss out on the annual Bughouse Debates.  This year in honor of Lincoln’s Bicentennial, the Lincoln-Douglas debates will be recreated by Michael Krebs (Lincoln), and Larry Diemer (Douglas). Other soapbox speakers include Jorge Mujica on immigration rights, Nora Rowley on Burma, and ”The Parking Meter Geek” on Chicago’s parking meter troubles.

The 25th Annual Newberry Library Book Fair takes place July 23rd through July 26th.  The Bughouse Square Debates take place on July 25th from 1pm-4pm.

Millennium Park-2009

imagesEvery year when summer rolls along, I always ask “what’s happening at Millennium Park this year?”  Since it’s opening 5 years ago, Millennium Park has become a staple when it comes to summertime in the city.  This summer, there are a slew of events including the Music Without Borders Series, Made in Chicago: World Class Jazz, and the new Edible Audible Picnic, where free, eclectic, live musical performances are given at noon while people can enjoy their lunch.  We’ve almost completed a large scale distribution of season brochures for Millennium Park, which detail everything happening this summer.  Be sure to pick one up in order to plan your outings today!

Ever wanted learn the art of comedy?  Be sure to check out the adult training classes available at The Second City.  The famous facility offers classes on acting, improv, writing, and even music.  We finished our flyer distribution not too long ago where we blanketed the city with handbills advertising their courses. Storybox @ Piven Theatre

storyboxThis unique and compelling production returns to the Piven Theatre for a short run.  Created and developed by Chicago Improv Festival co-founder, Jonathan Pitts, Storybox is a improvised production, meaning the performance is different each time.  Sometimes it’s funny.  Sometimes, it’s serious.  One thing’s for sure: it’s always entertaining.  In the last five years, Storybox has been performed in Chicago, Gjovik, Norway, Montreal, San Francisco and Toronto, so be sure to see it while it’s back home.

Storybox is at the Piven Theatre through August 2nd.
