We’re at it again this week with Hornitos Tequila. Over the course of the summer, we’ve produced 9 Hornitos Mischieve parties at bars and clubs throughout the city. This Thursday, we’ll be setting up at Roscoes’s (3356 N. Halsted) from 10PM through 12AM. We’ll be sampling a variety of fantastic Hornitos cocktails including my favorite, the Horni Wallbanger. The Horni Wallbanger is two parts Hornitos Plata, 4 parts OJ, and 1 part Galliano… Delish!

I’ve really gotten sucked into the blogosphere this past year and I find myself spending entirely too much time perusing my Google Reader. There are so many great blogs and bloggers that’s it’s nearly impossible to keep up. I thought I’d take a moment and share a couple of my favorites.

Adam Thurman’s The Mission Paradox is an excellent and candid discussion of arts marketing. The Mission Paradox is frank and honest when it comes to non-profit marketing and has given me some great insights in honing my marketing chops.

Guerrilla Promos is also another favorite of mine. They feature brilliant examples of guerrilla marketing at it’s finest. Unfortunately, alot of the best activations are in Europe but there are a couple if agencies in the states that really put together some awesome campaigns.

My last recommendation is There I Fixed It. There I fixed it is a personal pick and always good for a chuckle, the blog highlights bonehead and low rent “do-it-yourself” home improvments that typically involve duct tape and vise grips. I’m amazed by some of the genius fixes these folks come up with but at the same time I’m amazed that they bother to haphazardly fix them at all. Why not just fix it the right way the first time?

We are currently working with the League of Chicago Theatres to promote two great opportunities for theatre tickets: Free Night of Theatre 2009 and Half Price Tickets from HotTix.org. Last fall, 650 theatre companies, in 120 cities from coast to coast, opened their doors to over 65,000 new theatergoers. This year, participating theatre companies will offer even more tickets for free. We will be distributing flyers throughout the city promoting these fantastic deals. Keep an eye out, and be sure to take advantage of a chance to see great local theatre.

A few weeks back, we were given the opportunity to help promote the current Alize sponsored tour featuring Izza Kizza.  Currently, the tour is rolling through the state of Michigan hitting up stops in Lansing, Ann Arbor, and of course, Detroit.  The next stops are coming up in November in Dallas and Santa Barbara, so if you are in any of the above mentioned areas, keep an eye out for the posters and flyers we’ve distributed all over town.

Dael Orlandersmith’s amazing solo performance Stoop Stories has been getting rave reviews since it’s debut earlier this month at the Goodman Theatre. Orlandersmith brings the diverse cast of her Harlem neighborhood characters to life on stage in this exciting production.  We began a poster distribution throughout the city before the show’s opening in order to help build the public’s awareness.  Only a couple of weeks remain, so be sure to see the show DC Theatre Scene calls “…a spellbinding performance.”

Stoop Stories is at the Goodman Theatre through October 11th.

Soon, we will begin our second distribution for the Old Town School of Folk Music fall concert piece. Upcoming performances include Leo Kottke and Dengue Fever.  Our original distribution, which took place in the summer, was a huge success as existing members were able to purchase tickets early.   Be sure to grab a brochure when you see one for more info!

As an undiscovered comet hurtles towards earth, a lone scientist takes it upon himself to preserve the human race through a personal ad. But his plan for “intensely significant coupling” is more than his first date bargained for, food is running out, and his marine lab-turned-shelter is now beyond repair. We’re very excited to be promoting Boom at Next Theatre. Be sure to check out this dark comedy before it’s too late.

Chicago Shakespeare Theatre opens the season with Shakespeare’s tale of a brilliant, scheming hunchback who seduces and murders his way to the English throne. This captivating drama has thrilled audiences across the centuries, and now takes center stage at Chicago’s home for Shakespeare.  We are in the middle of a massive city wide distribution of promotional materials for this show.  Be sure to get your tickets today!

In support of their upcoming performance this Saturday at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, we dispatched street teams to different college campuses in order to hand out flyers, hang up posters, and build awareness for Dave Matthews Band’s Chicago appearance.  Last week, our teams visited DePaul, UIC, Loyola, and Northwestern where they blanketed each campus with promotional materials.  DMB is always consistent in having great summer tours, so be sure to catch them when they come through.

This past week, we launched a major flyering and promotion campaign for the GLBT themed Weekend OUT in Atlantic City at Harrahs Resort. Kicking off tonight, the event includes performances by Cazwell and Amanda Lepore, a VIP mix and mingle with the L-Word cast members, and rounding it out is Rehab Brunch on Sunday with bingo hosted by Lance Bass and Jai Rodriguez. If you’re out east, be sure to drop by Harrahs to check out all of the fun!

Weekend OUT in AC takes place September 25th through 27th.
