The Island @ the Greenhouse Theater

IslandAthol Fugard’s The Island comes to life at the Greenhouse Theater.  Set in an unnamed prison based on the one where Nelson Mandela was held, The Island tells the story of  cellmates who spend their days doing back-breaking labor, and their nights rehearsing Sophocles’Antigone to present to their fellow inmates. Brought to life on stage by the folks at Remy BumppoThe Island is a testament to the resiliency of the human heart.

We are very happy to be working with Remy Bumppo once again distributing promotional materials all over the city of Chicago for their latest show. There are several new shows opening at the start of the year, but this is one you surely don’t want to miss!

Over the Tavern @ Noble Fool Theater

tavern_onSet in 1959 in Buffalo, New York, Over the Tavern tells the story of Catholics Chet and Ellen who live above their tavern with their four teenagers. When their 12-year-old son Rudy questions the Roman Catholic Church to ruler-cracking Sister Clarissa before his confirmation, the outcome is a hilarious yet touching comedy.

We’ll be making trips out to the suburbs in order to deliver posters and handbills to retail shops, restaurants, and other high visibility locations in order to help get the word out on Over the Tavern. Be sure to see the show The Chicago Tribune calls “Absolutely enchanting…a little bit of heaven.” Tickets are on sale now!

The Brother/Sister Plays @ Steppenwolf Theatre

brothersister_150x200Steppenwolf brings a new and exciting production to it’s stage!  Written by  Tarell Alvin McCraney, The Brother/Sister Plays are three separate acts that tell one unique story.  Set in San Pere, Louisiana, The Brother/Sister Plays explore various themes including family and identity. They can be enjoyed independently, but it is recommended you attend all three acts.

We work regularly with Steppenwolf, and are excited that they have invited us to work on the streetmarketing side of things. The Brother/Sister Plays is part of the 2009-2010 subscription season, so be sure to take advantage of all the great deals that await once you become a subscriber!

Awake and Sing! @ Northlight Theatre

Gritty, passionate, funny and heartbreaking, Odets’ 1935 masterpiece beautifully captures both the hopes and the struggles of an unforgettable American family. This American classic features Northlight favorite Mike Nussbaum, and an outstanding ensemble of Chicago actors and is directed by Amy Morton.

Beginning in January, we’ll start our streetmarketing campaign for Awake and Sing! Northlight Theatre has given us an allotment of materials we’ll be bringing to key locations throughout the city and northshore. Private Lives @ Chicago Shakespeare Theater

clip_PRIVChicago Shakespeare’s Gary Griffin directs Noël Coward’s Private Lives. Divorcés Amanda and Elyot meet up again by accident, on their second honeymoons, with brand-new spouses in tow. Fireworks fly as their reunion reveals just how quickly romance and rivalry can be rekindled.

We will be beginning our distribution of promotional materials for Private Lives this week. Over the holidays, and into the new year, you will probably see our staff out and about hanging posters and placing handbills in your neighborhood hot spots. SciPagPoster09The Off-Broadway cult hit returns this year to Chicago for the holiday season!  Come see the show that pokes fun at L. Ron Hubbard and all of his clones. The Chicago Tribune describes A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pagent as  having “a real aura of homemade sophistication, and it uses this very intimate theater to great comic effect.”

We will be launching an extensive promotional campaign and distribution for A Red Orchid Theatre, bringing handbills and posters to all corners of the city. There will be plenty of jokes involving e-meters, Tom Cruise, and Hubbard himself.  Be sure to see the show while it’s here!

January at the Chicago History Museum

logo2009 is almost gone, and soon, a new year and new decade will be ushered in. What better way is there to start off than visiting the Chicago History Museum!  For the first month of 2010, CHM will be hosting some very exciting and unique events including Compañeras a film profiling America’s first all-female mariachi band, Vino in the Village which features food, wine, and history, and lastly, a very special celebration of Martin Luther King Jr Day on January 18th.

We are working on prnting and distributing materials for all of CHM’s upcoming events. Keep an eye out for all of the handbills at your local businesses, and take advantage of all the great events next month!

night_castle_cover_indexPrepare yourselves for the ultimate holiday show with Trans-Siberian Orchestra! Making it’s way to Chicago for two performances, TSO is sure to blow the minds of fans old and new as they rip through holiday classics, as well as cuts from their new double album Night Castle.

We are helping our friends at Live Nation promote the upcoming shows by executing several hand-to-hand flyer distributions this week.  Our street team will be visiting Christkindlmarket, the new ice rink at Wrigley Field, and many other holiday events throughout the city.  Keep an eye out for us, and be sure to grab a handbill!

lillAs the holiday’s come to an end, Lillstreet gears up for a new year, and the start of a new semester.  Offering an array of classes including metal work, sculpting and printmaking.  For the professional artist and the rookie, Lillstreet offers  a whole gamut of classes for all skill levels.
