Bon Iver @ UIC Pavilion

Nov 28 2011

After performing to a sold out crowd at The Chicago Theatre last summer, Bon Iver is returning to Chicago for a victory lap at the UIC Pavilion. The winter friendly act has been collecting praise from critics since forming in 2007. Four short years later, the group is filling arenas, with a lush sound to match.

The direction staff has been promoting this concert on our college routes, hipster route and outside of shows. We’ve been handing out fliers outside performances from M83, Architecture in Helsinki, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and more.

Bon Iver and opener Lianne La Havas will be at the UIC Pavilion on December 9. Tickets are currently available. For seats and a complete list of upcoming Jam Productions concerts, please visit jamusa.com.

White Noise @ Royal George

Apr 11 2011

Before heading to Broadway “White Noise: A Cautionary Musical” is getting a run at the Royal George. Produced by Whoopi Goldberg and directed by Sergio Trujillo (“Jersey Boys,” “Memphis,” “The Addams Family”), this new musical is loosely based on the pop/white power group Prussian Blue. The story of two sisters led by a fame and power hungry producer and a hip-hop turned gangsta rap duo meeting at the top of the charts is oddly realistic. New City said, ““White Noise” is loud and super-slick but that’s the point: It shows us how effective hate with six layers of shellac can be.”

Direction is pleased to be working with Allied Live for this production. We’ve been distributing materials to college campuses and the north side of Chicago.

“White Noise” runs until June 1 at the Royal George Theatre. Please visit whitenoisemusical.com for tickets and more information.

Chicago Opera Theatre 2011 Spring Festival Season

Mar 24 2011

The Chicago Opera Theater is about to begin their Spring Festival Season. Over the course of five weeks the company will stage four productions. “Death and the Powers,” recently featured on NPR’s On Point, is a groundbreaking new opera that combines technology with the afterlife. “Medea,” the second part of the three-opera cycle, will be the first time a Charpentier opera has been produced by a Chicago opera company. The final evenings will feature two operas, “The Diary of One Who Disappeared,” and “A Woman’s Love and Life,” a night billed as “He/She.” Each production tells the story of those suffering because of love.

The direction staff has been quite busy promoting these operas. In addition to our retail distribution we’ve also been doing hand to hand promotions outside the Lyric Opera and college campus distributions offering special discounts to students.

The Chicago Opera Theater 2011 Spring Festival Season begins April 2 and ends May 8. All performances will be at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park. Please visit chicagooperatheater.org for tickets and information.
