Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre will perform it’s annual Jubilation are, working with pianist Reginald Robinson, and featuring the premiere of Four Negro Spiratuals. Other works include Corner Sketches: A Tribute to Miles Davis and Stones of Hope

With the Super Bowl being in Dallas this year, we are working with our friends at BMF Media organizing a massive product sample distribution in the Lone Star State. Starting on Thursday, our team in Dallas will be traveling to various locations in the city, distributing sample size boxes of Tide detergent. Groundbreaking audio and visual artist Laurie Anderson returns to the Harris Theater to perform her new performance art piece, “Delusion,” commissioned by the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad and the Barbican Centre, London. Anderson is a one-of-a-kind artist and this production is no different. Jumping between short, mystery plays, the piece is about the everyday, the mythic, the fantastic and fact.
The direction staff has been distributing materials to the more artistic communities in Chicago, including Wicker Park, Ukrainian Village, West Town and more, to raise awareness for this special event. Direction printworks handled the production of all promotional materials.

Everyone’s favorite Baltimore bred cult director John Waters is coming to the Harris Theater for one night only. The personality will perform the Chicago premier of his critically-acclaimed one man show, “A John Waters Christmas”. The New York Post has said the production, “Puts the “X back in X-Mas” and would you expect anything else? Don’t miss what the holidays are like from the mind that brought you “Pink Flamingos”, “Cry-Baby” and “Hairspray”.
Direction was happy to print the materials for this special event as well as distribute them to Chicago’s north side and GLBT friendly neighborhoods.

The story that any Christmas movie lover knows, “White Christmas” is finally getting the stage show it deserves. Direct from Broadway, this new Irving Berlin musical includes all the tunes that made it famous, like “How Deep is the Ocean?” “Sisters,” “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep,” and the song that’s inevitably stuck in your head and you’re probably humming now, “White Christmas”.
Spreading the tuneful cheer, direction has been all over this soon to be snow covered city with materials for this new musical.

Frank Capra’s classic film “It’s a Wonderful Life” is getting its annual reinterpretation from the American Theater Company. The intimate theater is turned into a 1940s studio. The audience learns how important each life is. Angels get wings. Perspectives are brightened. Come experience the production the Chicago Tribune calls “the one holiday show I relish going back to each year.”

“A Holiday Fantasea” begins this week at Shedd Aquarium. The show features Pacific white-sided dolphins, beluga whales and a California sea lion highlighting their beauty and natural behaviors. In addition to seeing an array of exotic animals, you’ll also be treated to performances from them accompanied by holiday music and festive backgrounds from around the world.
We’re very excited to be working with the John G. Shedd Aquarium for this show. We have teams scheduled to be promoting at multiple holiday themed events. We’ve already been at the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival. Coming up is the Thanksgiving Day parade, Toys for Tots Parades, and an event each weekend leading up to Christmas. We have discount offers, “Fantasea” glasses and other great items to distribute.

The Ensemble Espanol Center will bring Dame Libby’s masterpiece “Bolero” to the Harris Theater this week as part of Global Rhythms VI and the Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s 20th anniversary. The premier Spanish dance company is a new client of ours and we’re proud to be working with them. Since 1976 they’ve been sharing the cultural traditions of Spain and now we’re spreading their word.

The first concert series in the United States spotlighting American tap and contemporary percussion arts companies, Global Rhythms comes to the Harris Theater at the end of the month. The Chicago Human Rhythm Project ends their 2010 year with a performance that shares 50% of its proceeds with more than 50 Chicago area non-profits. Thanks to the Thanks4Giving program a night out on the town will do more good than ever before.
The direction team has been executing cross promotional show hits at a variety of events, such as performances at the River North Dance Company and the Eat to the Beat event at the Harris Theater.

The Chicago Loop is about to transform into a winter wonderland again. Beginning today and lasting until the new year, the cultural attractions and businesses in downtown Chicago are featuring special events like tree lightings and story time hours to large scale sales. Visit the Christkindl Market, which features German and international vendors showcasing artisan crafts and food, at the Daley Center. Stroll down State St. and look at the annual Macy’s Holiday Windows. Come to the Tree Lighting on November 24. Each day is another opportunity for the family to keep the Chicago holiday tradition alive.
