Chicago Opera Theater is off to a fantastic start this year with three amazing performances in the works. For their spring 2010 season, C.O.T. is proud to present Moses in Egypt, Jason, and Three Decembers.

We are working together with Chicago Opera Theater distributing their mailers to Chicago opera fans. If you attended this past Sunday’s opening performance of The Marriage of Figaro at the Lyric Opera House, you no doubt saw our team in action as they passed out mailers to those making their way to the performance. We will have street team members present at every performance of Figaro in March, so be sure to grab a mailer and learn more about opera less ordinary today!

David Schwimmer directs this Lookingglass production about a seemingly innocent online encounter that threatens to unravel the fabric of an American family. Using state of the art technology, Trust will be a cutting-edge theatrical experience, combining projection, video, photos, texting and live chat. As the internet increasingly becomes the hunting ground for sexual predators, this production will serve to not only raise awareness but move and empower audiences to take action in their community and within their own families.

Court Theatre is proud to present there latest production written by acclaimed playwright Tony Kushner. The Illusion tells the story of a father’s attempt to find his estranged son in a world of theatrical magic, outrageous humor, and true, complicated love.

In addition to launching a distribution campaign, we also had our street teams out distributing handbills to performances in Chicago if you were at the Harris Theater last Monday, or the Lyric Opera this past Saturday, you probably saw our team in action, and grabbed a  handbill yourself.

A True History of the Johnstown Flood introduces us to The Baxter Theatre Troupe who have been summoned to perform at an exclusive resort next to a beautiful man-made lake in the Pennsylvania mountains. When a violent rainstorm compromises the lake’s shoddily constructed dam, the resulting disaster lays bare the tragic inequities of the rigid class system-and paves the way for a seismic change in both theater and society.

The West-coast band makes it’s way to the Congress Theater at the end of the month! Slightly Stoopid are on a new tour, and you won’t want to miss it!

We are working with our friends at Live Nation in order to promote this show to the utmost. We were at both moe. shows this past weekend, in addition to Citizen Cope and New Found Glory. John Mahoney, one of the greatest actors to come out of Chicago returns to the Northlight Theatre as the lead in the new production A Life. As Desmond Drumm nears retirement, his memories come to life, reminding him of the triumphs and tragedies of his youth and prompting him to mend relationships with a childhood friend and the love interest that had charmed them both.

We’re glad to be working with Northlight once again on what is sure to be one of the most popular productions of the season. Abigail is having a party and none of you are invited, but do not miss the cocktail party just down the block.  Beverly and Lawrence are having the “grown-ups” over and this party promises hilarity and horror the likes of which you can not imagine.  Such is the scenario for A Red Orchid Theatre’s latest production Abigail’s Party.

We are excited to be a part of another show from our friends at the Red Orchid.  We recently worked with them on their holiday production of A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant, and his time around we will be bringing handbills and posters throughout the city with a heavy concentration in Red Orchid’s own neighborhood of Old Town. be sure to check out their website to find out how you can get tickets to the show!

Because it is still pretty chilly out, it’s hard to imagine summertime, which seems like it’s light years away. But our friends at SAIC are already planning various summer camps for the entire family to enjoy. Starting in June, SAIC will begin a variety of programs and curriculum for your youngsters.  Classes include multimedia, fashion, and other art forms.

Two years ago, seven of our country’s most eminent Asian-American playwrights were invited by Chicago’s Silk Road Theatre Project to take a voyage through their own pasts, via a simple test of their DNA. The results of those journeys, and the questions that arose concerning heritage, ancestry, identity and the perils of such explorations, are the basis of a fascinating evening of new short plays.

We’re very excited to be a part of this very original production, and are working with the Silk Road Theatre Project in conjunction with the Goodman Theatre distributing promotional materials as part of our street marketing campaign. Be sure to get your tickets for these exciting events!

Celtic Woman makes its way to the Rosemont Theatre next month for two live performances of Songs From the Heart. Join musical director David Downes and the cast as they perform selections from the acclaimed CD/DVD.

Last year, Celtic Woman performed two shows at the Chicago Theater. Those in attendance were treated to amazing performances, and are surely looking forward to the latest tour. We are doing our part to help spread the word on the upcoming performances by distributing handbills and posters to Irish neighborhoods and locations in Chicago.
