Beyond Brokeback @ Auditorium Theatre

Nov 01 2011

Besides winning three Academy Awards and being one of the highest grossing romance films of all time, “Brokeback Mountain” is also a piece of art that still inspires countless people to create their own works. “Beyond Brokeback” will include a screening of the Ang Lee film followed by a panel discussion with cinema and academic experts and a staged reading of messages, essays, poetry and music inspired by the film. The staged pieces are directed by David Zak, conceived and adapted for the stage by Gregory Hinton based on the book “Beyond Brokeback,” written by members of the Ultimate Brokeback Forum website, with original music by Shawn Kirchner.

The direction team has been promoting this event with posters and handbills on our north shore distribution and GLBT routes. We’re happy to be working with Roosevelt University for the first time.

“Beyond Brokeback” will be at the Auditorium Theatre on Sunday, November 13 at 2pm. Tickets are currently available. Please visit auditoriumtheatre.org for a complete list of upcoming performances and to purchase tickets.
