In addition to being a school for future dancers, The Dance Center of Columbia College also brings in some of the best companies from around the world. This month the Merce Cunningham Dance Company will be performing over two nights, featuring five separate works from legendary choreographer Cunningham. Night one includes “Squaregame” from 1976, “Quartet” from 1982 and “Antic Meet” from 1958. Night two will showcase “Roaratorio,” an evening-length largescale work set to John Cage’s complex 1979 composition “Roaratorio,” an Irish Circus on “Finnegans Wake,” consisting of music, text and sounds from places in James Joyce’s novel.
The direction team has distributed promotional materials for the Dance Center of Columbia College on our dance specialty route and throughout the north side of Chicago.
The Merce Cunningham Dance Company will be at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park on November 18 and 19. Tickets are currently available. Please visit colum.edu/Dance_Center for a list of all upcoming Dance Center events, tickets and more.
