I Do! Chicago Ties the Knot @ Chicago History Museum

May 25 2010

logoFor centuries, wedding fashion followed everyday fashion. Only recently have brides chosen to eschew contemporary formal wear for styles that directly reference the past. Today, hoop skirts, corsets, sinewy fishtails, long trains, and leg-o-mutton sleeves can all be seen on the aisle, but each style echoes decades past. The Chicago History Museum’s vast costume collection includes a stunning array of wedding attire—for brides, grooms, bridesmaids, and more—that reveals 150 years of fashion favored by Chicago couples. I Do! presents forty-five dresses, plus accessories, corsets, and men’s attire.

In addition to distributing materials throughout the city, we’ll also be passing out handbills at Chicago Bridal Expo events. Be sure to check out the exhibit this summer!

I Do! Chicago Ties the Knot opens at the Chicago History Museum on May 22nd.  Please visit www.chicagohs.org for more information.

Raphael: The Woman with the Veil @ Milwaukee Art Museum

Apr 07 2010

10_raphaelRahael’s La Donna Velata (The Woman with the Veil) makes it’s way to Milwaukee for a very rare appearance. Responding to Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Raphael developed in this portrait his own idea of female beauty and deportment. Art historians have variously identified this beautiful woman as a patron’s bride and as the artist’s lover and muse; she appears as a model in many of Raphael’s most important works.

It’s been a while since we have worked with our friends at the Milwaukee Art Museum, so needless to say, we are very excited to be part of this project. We’ll be distributing promotional materials in Chicago in support of the exhibit. Be sure to take advantage, and check out Raphael’s masterpiece while you can.

Raphael: The Woman with the Veil is at the Milwaukee Art Museum through June 6th. Please visit www.mam.org for more information.

chm-HomeLincoln200As part of the exhibition Benito Juarez and the Making of Modern Mexico, the Chicago History Museum commissioned us to distribute brochures advertising this and the new Abraham Lincoln exhibition to Hispanic and Latino communities throughout the city. The new exhibition was co-curated by the National Museum of Mexican Art, and is a fascinating exploration of Abraham Lincoln’s contemporary, Benito Juarez.  Last week we visited many different neighborhoods and locations distributing the bi-lingual flyers.  Keep an eye out for the materials, and pick one up today!
