The Detective’s Wife @ Writers Theatre

May 25 2011

The world premiere of the new play “The Detective’s Wife” opened this week at the Writers Theatre in Glencoe. Written by Keith Huff (Broadways “A Steady Rain,” and AMC’s “Mad Men”) and directed by Gary Griffin, this new play features Chicago stage star Barbara Robertson.

Alice Conroy is a mother of grown children, an owner of a frame store and the wife of a detective. Her husband isn’t meant for long and is gunned down on the job. “The Detective’s Wife” is about Mrs. Conroy finding out who murdered her husband and why.

Direction has handled the street promotion of this production on Chicago’s north shore.

“The Detective’s Wife” runs until July 31 at the Writers Theatre. Please visit writerstheatre.org for tickets, show times, clips and more information about the play and the theater.

Heartbreak House @ Writers Theatre

Apr 28 2011

The Writers Theatre in Glencoe recently opened George Bernard Shaw’s most personal and favorite play, “Heartbreak House.” Set in the English countryside, the piece is about a group of friends deciding whether a woman should marry for money or love. Pioneer Press has said, “”Heartbreak House,” populated by characters representing disparate elements in English society who are equally oblivious to the way their world is about to convulse, is part satire and part eulogy about the end of an era.” The 100 year old play still resonates with universal themes of love and money.

Direction has been distributing posters and handbills throughout the north side of Chicago and northern suburbs.

“Heartbreak House” runs until June 26 at 325 Tudor Court in the Writers Theatre. Please visit writerstheatre.org for tickets, showtimes and more information.

Travels with My Aunt @ Writers Theatre

Jan 26 2011

Head to the heart of the north shore for Graham Green’s “Travels with My Aunt” at the Writers Theatre. This production, adapted by Giles Havergal, has already received much acclaim from the theater press. WBEZ named actor Sean Fortunato, who appears in this production, as one of the top five actors in Chicago. The Chicago Tribune has called the production “sophisticated and wry”. The ChicagoSun-Times has said that the show is, “a grand tour for its actors”. The show is highly rated and performances are selling out fast. We highly recommend planning a trip to see this rollicking show today!

The direction staff has proudly distributed promotional materials throughout the north side of Chicago and the north shore promoting the play.

“Travels with My Aunt” runs until March 27 at the Writer Theatre in Glencoe. Please visit writerstheatre.org for tickets and information.

A Minister’s Wife @ Writer’s Theatre

Apr 28 2009

ministersWorking once again with the Writer’s Theatre, we are in the middle of campaigning for their current production of A Minister’s Wife. Adapted by Austin Pendleton into a musical, it tells the story of a minister, his wife, a young poet who passes through town, and how their lives intersect.  We’re hard at work getting the word out on this all around Glencoe, and in Chicago.  A Minister’s Wife is directed by Michael Halberstam.

A Minister’s Wife is at the Writer’s Theatre May 19th through July 19th.
