Summertime means one thing: the start of tour season. This year, two jam band heavyweights take to the road and will make their way to Alpine Valley.  The Dave Matthews Band will be playing two shows July 4th weekend. Jack Johnson, who is touring in support of his latest album To the Sea, will play at the end of July.  100% of his 2010 tour profits will be donated to charity.

Together with Live Nation, we will be promoting both of these shows.  We printed posters for each artist which we are distributing throughout the Chicagoland area.  Both acts are notorious for selling out amphitheaters, so be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible.

Both on separate tours, Ozomatli and Steel Pulse will be making their way to the House of Blues in Chicago in May. Currently promoting their new album Fire Away (which comes out on April 20th), Ozomatli are tearing up the road and venue circuit with their unique blend of Latin, Jazz, Hip Hop, and funk.  Steel Pulse, who are touring with Toots and the Mytals, are rocking venues across the country with their stone cold reggae grooves.

We’re working with our buddies at  House of Blues, promoting both of these exciting acts. We’ll be turning up at concerts in Chicago distributing double sided handbills which advertise both shows. Be sure to grab one, and say hi!

Last month, we began working regularly with the folks at live nation promoting a variety of shows. This month, we have already begun several projects with them including Bamboozle and Maxwell/Jill Scott. We will be distributing materials in the city via our regualar retail routes and hand-2-hand  distributions at various show hits.  If you’ve been to concerts as of late, you’ve no doubt seen our teams in action.  We’ll be at 30 Seconds to Mars @ the Aragon, OK GO @ the Metro, and Corrine Bailey Rae @ the Vic to name a few. If you were out  at the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, you probably saw our crack team of guerrilla marketers passing out handbills. This is part of project that we have been working on together with our good friends at Live Nation. Passing out flyers for upcoming shows including Slightly Stoopid and Gaelic Storm, our team joined the masses that came out in spite of the weather to the annual parade.

The West-coast band makes it’s way to the Congress Theater at the end of the month! Slightly Stoopid are on a new tour, and you won’t want to miss it!

Prepare yourselves for the ultimate holiday show with Trans-Siberian Orchestra! Making it’s way to Chicago for two performances, TSO is sure to blow the minds of fans old and new as they rip through holiday classics, as well as cuts from their new double album Night Castle.

We are helping our friends at Live Nation promote the upcoming shows by executing several hand-to-hand flyer distributions this week.  Our street team will be visiting Christkindlmarket, the new ice rink at Wrigley Field, and many other holiday events throughout the city.  Keep an eye out for us, and be sure to grab a handbill!

We’re now two months into the launch of direction printworks and I couldn’t be more pleased with the success and performance of the printworks team thus far. Our presses have been running almost nonstop since direction printworks inception and we’ve produced a lot of great pieces.
