Bee is a young woman who believes she has the uncanny ability to see the future, and maybe even alter it. With the click of a television remote, we loop through time in this dark, funny world premiere about a woman bent on reinventing her own destiny, and possibly, the world.

We worked with Steppenwolf distributing posters and handbills throughout the city, including hand-to-hand distributions at a few outdoor events. Be sure to check out this latest production before it ends.

Tuesdays on the Terrace @ Museum of Contemporary Art

Come to the MCA for free live jazz concerts every Tuesday during the summer, at Tuesdays on the Terrace, presented by Macy’s. A different gourmet buffet prepared by Wolfgang Puck Catering is served each week, with dishes created using fresh locally-grown produce from the MCA Farmer’s Market. For a more casual evening, bring your own blanket for a relaxing evening on the garden lawn. In case of rain, the event takes place in Puck’s Cafe.

We have been executing hand-to-hand distributions for the past month, including hits at the Green City Market, Taste of Randolph, and Jammin’ at the Zoo. Be sure to grab a handbill which lists the complete schedule of artists performing each night

Written and directed by award winning platinum artist and producer Lil Louis, Based on the critically acclaimed book A Man’s Diary, the play bravely takes the audience on one man’s entire love journey from the most romantic, innocent and funniest moments, to the worst, most painful and embarrassing moments imaginable.

This summer, the world’s most popular jam band has returned for a full blown tour. Phish will make their way to Alpine Valley for two back to back performances.

Even though these shows aren’t until the end of the summer, we are in the midst of executing a quick distribution in Madison and Milwaukee. We have teams actively targeting college campuses hanging posters and distributing handbills before classes let out for the summer. If you’re a student in either of these cities, keep an eye out for out teams, and be sure to say hello!

Sizwe Banzi is Dead @ Court Theatre

Master playwright Fugard and the actors of the original South African cast collaboratively wrote the story of a man who pretends to be dead in order to live. This searing exploration of identity and the political power of storytelling is presented in a new, intimate staging by Court Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson.

We last worked with Court Theatre on the critically acclaimed The Illusion, and now, we’re excited to be a part of their newest production. Jack Shore, a well-known television personality, is appearing for one night only in a tribute to his grandfather, Jack Shemerinsky, great star of the Yiddish Theater. Backstage in his dressing room, Jack confronts his challenges as an actor and as a husband to his co-starring wife simultaneously, 75 years in the past, Jacob has problems of his own. Actors play their past and present roles in a dizzying display of life in the theater in this time-traveling farce.

Victory Gardens is always a pleasure to work with, and well be doing or best to cover the entire city with posters and handbills advertising this upcoming show. Jacob and Jack was written by James Sherman and directed by Dennis Zacek

Summertime means one thing: the start of tour season. This year, two jam band heavyweights take to the road and will make their way to Alpine Valley. The Dave Matthews Band will be playing two shows July 4th weekend. Jack Johnson, who is touring in support of his latest album To the Sea, will play at the end of July. 100% of his 2010 tour profits will be donated to charity.

Together with Live Nation, we will be promoting both of these shows. We printed posters for each artist which we are distributing throughout the Chicagoland area. Both acts are notorious for selling out amphitheaters, so be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible.

The Aztec inspired promotion is travelling from bar to bar to ‘open the skies’ for the celebration of Cinco de Mayo with spiritual dancing and drumming.

Unable to bring themselves to do the deed, they hire Killer Joe Cooper, a full-time cop and part-time contract killer. Once he steps into their trailer, their simple plan quickly spirals out of control.

We have been in the middle of a distribution campaign for Killer Joe, and have also been printing the promotional materials themselves. This production, brought to life by Profiles Theatre, was written by playwright Tracy Letts and is directed by Steppenwolf ensemble member Rick Snyder.

But that was just an everyday fear held by many women pursued by King Henry the VIII of England between 1509 and 1547. Created by The Foursight Theatre Company in Wolverhampton, England in 1999, Six Dead Queens and an Inflatable Henry! is a devised theatre piece packed with intrigue, rowdy good humor and duels of words.

Both on separate tours, Ozomatli and Steel Pulse will be making their way to the House of Blues in Chicago in May. Currently promoting their new album Fire Away (which comes out on April 20th), Ozomatli are tearing up the road and venue circuit with their unique blend of Latin, Jazz, Hip Hop, and funk. Steel Pulse, who are touring with Toots and the Mytals, are rocking venues across the country with their stone cold reggae grooves.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favourites draws upon the magic of black light and fluorescent puppet creations to capture the charm of three favorite Eric Carle stories. A Very Hungry Caterpillar encounters wonderful adventures as he progresses through an amazing variety of foods towards his eventual metamorphosis into a beautiful butterfly.

We always enjoy working with Chicago Children’s Theatre and their family themed productions. We’ve begun distributing materials for Hungry Caterpillar, and you’ve probably seen them around town by now. Be sure to bring your family to see this fun filled production!

The Brother/Sister Plays: Campus Coverage

We had previously mentioned The Brother/Sister Plays in one of our other posts. The Steppenwolf productions has been receiving rave reviews since it began, and now, we are looking to help increase the fan base even more. We are working closely with Steppenwolf to distribute materials throughout college campuses in Chicago. Our handbills offer $15 tickets for all students for the Brother/Sister performances. With such a great deal, there is no reason you should not go see the this show.

Lang Lang @ Harris Theater

The Harris Theater is proud to present world renowned pianist, Lang Lang. For his first appearance, Lang Lang will perform an impressive two concerto program under his mentor, conductor Christoph Eschenbach. The performance will be accompanied by the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra.

We are looking forward to working with the Harris Theater again in promoting this exciting new show. We have been distributing flyers and posters around the city. Les Liaisons Dangereuses @ Remy Bumppo Theatre

Christopher Hampton’s award-winning, English-language adaptation of Choderlos de Laclos’ infamous 1782 novel of sexual intrigue and ruthless manipulation! Set in the salons and boudoirs of pre-Revolutionary France, two high-powered and well-heeled friends, the Vicomte de Valmont and the Marquise de Merteuil, devise a game to test their skills as rapacious lovers. NOTE, This production contains some nudity.

Working with Remy Bumppo is always fun as they bring a plethora of exciting theater to life on the stage. We will be launching a distribution campaign bringing posters to all corners of the city. Les Liaisons just started last week, so be sure to check it out this spring!

The Crucible @ Infamous Commonwealth Theatre

Arthur Miller’s classic play is brought to life on stage this spring by Infamous Commonwealth Theatre. Set during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, this scathing indictment of censorship remains a timeless classic of American drama and a master study on the inherent frailty, delicate beauty and limitless possibility of the human spirit.

We’re excited to work with Infamous Commonwealth as they perform in their new space at the Raven Theatre. We’re distributing posters and other materials throughout the city with a heavy concentration on northside neighborhoods. If you’re a Miller fan, this is one production you won’t want to miss!

Australia’s prog rockers make there way stateside for a nationwide tour! Winner’s of several Australian awards including Most Popular Act and Most Popular Live Act, Karnivool will be tooling around the country hitting up several major cities and events including SXSW.

Slayer @ UIC Pavilion

Not too long ago, we were tasked with printing and distributing materials for Slayer’s performance at the UIC Pavilion on February 5th. Unfortunately, the performance was postponed. But now it has been rescheduled to August! We are working Jam Productions, printing and distributing posters and handbills for this highly anticipated show! Many were disappointed at the news of the cancellation, put now is your chance to see one of the heaviest bands in the world! Tickets are still available, and tickets purchased for the February 5th show will be honored. Well be hitting up a variety of metal shows in Chicago passing out handbills, so be sure to grab one for more details!

Love Taps @ the Theatre Building Chicago

Chicago Tap Theatre will be presenting its first ever tap story-show where the audience will determine the fate of the tale. Love Taps explores the concept of lonely singles searching for their soul-mates through internet dating, and what happens after those couples meet their on-line prospects in-person. During intermission, the audience will be able to decide which characters get to be paired up with each other, creating entirely different performances from night to night.

We’re very happy to be a part of this new production, and are doing our part to help spread the word on this new production. Our team has been hitting the streets, putting up posters and handbills throughout Chicago Neighborhoods.

The Lost Boys of Sudan @ Victory Gardens Biograph Theater

Three boys meet while fleeing the horrors of war. They soon find themselves in Fargo, North Dakota where encountering drought, crocodiles and guerrillas are replaced with malls, video games, and Skittles.

We are working closely with Victory Gardens on this project, as we distribute handbills all over the Chicagoland area. Be sure to bring your used books to the performances, as Victory Gardens has partnered with The PACODES Library Project to collect books that will help build a library in Southern Sudan.

The Lost Boys of Sudan is at Victory Gardens Biograph Theater March 19th through April 25th.

Billy Elliot @ Ford Center/Oriental Theatre

The Broadway hit is finally here! Billy Elliot the Musical makes it’s way to Chicago this spring for an extended stay. Billy Elliot is the heartwarming celebration of one young boy’s triumph against the odds. Set in a small mining town, the story follows Billy’s journey as he stumbles out of a boxing ring and into a ballet class and discovers his dream to dance.

You might remember not too long ago we did a promotion for the Billy Elliot onsale. We had staff members with banner packs targeting commuters and holiday shoppers with handbills. Now, we will be staring retail distribution of promo materials throughout the city. If you haven’t done so yet, get your tickets right away for what is sure to be the hit musical of the year!

Slide is both a poignant tale of human frailty and a work about the seduction and manipulation of the American psyche. This multi-media, multi-art form production features renowned collaborators Rinde Eckert and Steve Mackey alongside Eighth Blackbird in a Chicago premiere.

Eighth Blackbird always seems to be a part of some very exciting and unique productions at Harris Theater. We’ve been working regularly with the Lifeline Theatre on both The Last of the Dragons and Mrs. Caliban. We are in the midst of an aggressive guerrilla marketing campaign for The Blue Shadow, distributing promotional materials throughout the city and northshore suburbs.

Chicago Opera Theater is off to a fantastic start this year with three amazing performances in the works. For their spring 2010 season, C.O.T. is proud to present Moses in Egypt, Jason, and Three Decembers.

We are working together with Chicago Opera Theater distributing their mailers to Chicago opera fans. If you attended this past Sunday’s opening performance of The Marriage of Figaro at the Lyric Opera House, you no doubt saw our team in action as they passed out mailers to those making their way to the performance. Court Theatre is proud to present there latest production written by acclaimed playwright Tony Kushner. The Illusion tells the story of a father’s attempt to find his estranged son in a world of theatrical magic, outrageous humor, and true, complicated love.

A True History of the Johnstown Flood introduces us to The Baxter Theatre Troupe who have been summoned to perform at an exclusive resort next to a beautiful man-made lake in the Pennsylvania mountains. When a violent rainstorm compromises the lake’s shoddily constructed dam, the resulting disaster lays bare the tragic inequities of the rigid class system-and paves the way for a seismic change in both theater and society.

John Mahoney, one of the greatest actors to come out of Chicago returns to the Northlight Theatre as the lead in the new production A Life. Abigail is having a party and none of you are invited, but do not miss the cocktail party just down the block. Beverly and Lawrence are having the “grown-ups” over and this party promises hilarity and horror the likes of which you can not imagine. Such is the scenario for A Red Orchid Theatre’s latest production Abigail’s Party.

We are excited to be a part of another show from our friends at the Red Orchid.
