Each Tuesday the Museum of Contemporary Art presents a different program designed to educate and entertain one and all. The first Tuesday is Doodleganza, an interactive evening where an illustrator, cartoonist or other type of artist leads a group of all ages in a sketch session. All are invited, regardless of artistic skill level. The second Tuesday is Culture Catalysts, an evening of lectures from some of Chicago’s cultural critics and participants. The third Tuesday delivers Internet Superheroes, a series of artists creating works that cross between technology and art. Closing the month is Face the Strange. The MCA gets loud with some of Chicago’s best indie, electronic and avant garde acts. Each week offers another unique opportunity to explore and interact with the Chicago community.
Our staff has been taking out handbills on the custom hipster specialty route for the MCA Tuesday programming.
For more information about each Tuesday night event and a complete list of events, exhibits and special occasions, please visit mcachicago.org.

The Museum of Contemporary Art opens their doors to families on the second Saturday of each month. From 11am to 3pm the museum provides hands-on art activities, scavenger hunts, Look ‘n’ Learn stations, and more that will show kids that art can be fun.
We created a specialized route to hit Chicago Park Districts and libraries to get the word out for the MCA.
The 2011 Family Days continue until May. Each month has a different theme and set of activities. Admission is free for families with children 12 and under. As an added bonus, children under 12 eat for free at Puck’s with purchase from an adult. For more information about Family Days and other events at the MCA, please visit mcachicago.org.

Each Tuesday from the beginning of summer to the middle of autumn, the Museum of Contemporary Art takes advantage of its beautiful terrace and invites jazz musicians from a wide array of schools and styles to perform. The Tuesdays on the Terrace series is a wonderful introduction to Chicago’s ongoing jazz renaissance. For the cost of zero, you can see some amazing acts. If you forget to bring a blanket or lawn chair, don’t worry, you can rent one from the museum for the low price of five dollars.
The direction team has been distributing MCA materials on our jazz, urban hipster and wine connoisseaur routes. We’ll also be promoting the event upcomming Jammin’ at the Zoo concerts at the Lincoln Park Zoo.
The Tuesdays on the Terrace series runs until September 27 at the Museum of Contemporary Art. For a full schedule and more information about the museum, please visit mcachicago.org.

The MCA Global Stage series continues with “Teatro de Ciertos Habitantes,” a theater performance about the making of a theater performance. A director and six singers lose inhibitions while rehearsing for a musical that features a made up language, each pushing themselves to reach new levels of euphoria. The score was composed by Paul Barker and will be performed by Chicago’s MAVerick Ensemble.
The direction staff has distributed promotional materials for this one week run on our theatre route and Latin music route.
“Teatro de Ciertos Habitantes with MAVerick Ensemble: El Gallo: opera for actors” runs today until May 1 at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Please visit mcachicago.org for tickets, show times and more information.

In addition to distributing materials for these events on our hipster route we also built a specialty art connoisseur route for the MCA.

The eighth blackbird is a musical group that has won The America Music Center Trailblazer, a Meet the Composer award, the BMI/Boudleaux-Bryant Fund Commission, the Grand Prize at the Concert Artists Guild International Competition, the Naumburg Chamber Music Award, and the NEA/CMA Special Commissioning Award. I’m mentioning this because they deserve the accolades. This winter the musicians are going to perform two concerts based upon Stravinsky’s quote, “Music is essentially powerless to express anything at all.” The performances are part of the MCA’s Composers Stage series. This is an excellent opportunity to see world class music in a gorgeous cutting-edge museum.
Direction has distributed materials for these special performances throughout the north side of Chicago.
The eighth blackbird performs “PowerFUL/LESS” at the Museum of Contemporary Art on January 22 and February 5. Please visit mcachicago.org for tickets and information.

Come to the MCA for free live jazz concerts every Tuesday during the summer, at Tuesdays on the Terrace, presented by Macy’s. A different gourmet buffet prepared by Wolfgang Puck Catering is served each week, with dishes created using fresh locally-grown produce from the MCA Farmer’s Market. For a more casual evening, bring your own blanket for a relaxing evening on the garden lawn. In case of rain, the event takes place in Puck’s Cafe.
We have been executing hand-to-hand distributions for the past month, including hits at the Green City Market, Taste of Randolph, and Jammin’ at the Zoo. Be sure to grab a handbill which lists the complete schedule of artists performing each night
Tuesdays on the Terrace is at the MCA every Tuesday through September. Please visit www.mcachicago.org for more information.
