Lincoln Bicentennial II @ The Newberry Library

As the year comes to a close, so does the celebration of Lincoln’s Bicentennial. This past year we have been working closely with The Newberry Library to promote their Lincoln exhibitions, and currently, we are gearing up for another round of brochure distributions. Last time around, we blanketed the city with Lincoln brochures detailing all of the upcoming events, and we will be repeating this process one more time.

In honor of one our nation’s greatest presidents, The Newberry Library is offering several informative events and exhibits including Abraham Lincoln and the Visual Arts, Honest Abe of the West, and With Malice Towards None. Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition @ Newberry Library

In honor of the two hundredth anniversary of Lincoln’s birth, Newberry Library offers a brand new and exiting exhibit to Chicago. With Malice Toward None: The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition, offers a glimpse of who our nation’s greatest president was through different artifacts including pictures, books, and letters. We jumped at the chance to work on this project with the Newberry, and have been distributing brochures for the exhibition to libraries in the city and northshore suburbs. Newberry Library Book Fair/Bughouse Debates

Over the past quarter of a century, the Newberry Library Book Fair has cemented it’s status as one of the city’s most popular used book binges. Come check out the amazing deals, and don’t miss out on the annual Bughouse Debates. This year in honor of Lincoln’s Bicentennial, the Lincoln-Douglas debates will be recreated by Michael Krebs (Lincoln), and Larry Diemer (Douglas). Other soapbox speakers include Jorge Mujica on immigration rights, Nora Rowley on Burma, and ”The Parking Meter Geek” on Chicago’s parking meter troubles.

The 25th Annual Newberry Library Book Fair takes place July 23rd through July 26th. The Bughouse Square Debates take place on July 25th from 1pm-4pm.
