The nation is in ruins. Sides are drawn. An Illinois politician and his wife are spending Christmas Eve as President and First Lady in the White House. It’s 1864.
“A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration” was penned by Pulitzer Prize-winner Paula Vogel. Directed by Henry Godinez, this holiday themed production weaves fiction and reality with traditional Christmas carols. Mrs. Lincoln scours Washington for the ideal Christmas tree while a mother searches for her daughter.
In addition to distritubing materials throughout the northern suburbs and northern part of Chicago, direction has also printed posters for this production.
“A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration” runs from November 11 to December 19 at Northlight Theatre in the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts. Please visit northlight.org for more information.
