Jan 18 2012

“Black Pearl Sings!” a new play written by Frank Higgins and starring Northlight favorites E. Faye Butler and Susie McMonagle, has begun its month long run at Skokie’s Northlight Theatre. Using a cappella versions of not well known American folk songs, the production tells the story of two women during the Depression, one a talented singer languishing in a southern prison and the other is a Library of Congress song collector, set on recording her songs.

The direction staff has been distributing Northlight posters and handbills throughout the north shore and north side of Chicago on our specialty jazz and blues route.

“Black Pearl Sings!” will be at the Northlight through February 19. Please visit northlight.org to purchase seats and read more about this play.

Seasons Greetings @ Northlight Theatre

Nov 21 2011

There are no shortage of holiday themed productions on stage this season. Whether you’re in a musical mood or in search of an uplifting tale of family love, you’re covered. There are a lack of stories about the type of family most of us have. “Seasons Greetings,” by Alan Ayckbourn and directed by BJ Jones, is coming from a successful run in the UK, bringing awkwardness and uncomfortable moments to the states. The Chicago Tribune praises the production. “In the best moments of BJ Jones’ adroit and funny production — and there are many such moments — you start to wonder why our holiday rituals are so clearly designed to prevent us from doing what we actually want to do, with whomever we actually want to do it with.”

The direction staff has been distributing promotional materials for the Northlight throughout the north shore suburbs.

“Seasons Greetings” will be at the Northlight Theatre until December 18. Tickets for this run are currently on sale. Please visit northlight.org for a complete list of productions.

Everything that has a beginning sadly has an end. “Snapshots,” a romantic comedy featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, tells the story of how a middle-aged couple fell  in and fell out of love. The production was created by the same team that brought you “Wicked,” “Godspell,” “Pippin” and “Working,” four of the best musicals in the last forty years.

The direction staff has been distributing posters and handbills for this upcoming Northlight production throughout the more theater friendly neighborhoods of Chicago’s north side.

“Snapshots” will run at the Northlight Theatre from September 16 to October 23. Tickets are currently available. Please visit northlight.org for information about “Snapshots” and the entire 2011/12 Northlight season.

Outgoing Tide @ Northlight Theatre

Jun 29 2011

We’ve been working with the Northlight Theatre for some time. Each one of their productions garners positive press. Their plays are well respected and well attended. Every so often, a show is extended due to rave reviews and high demand. “Outgoing Tide” is one of those shows. Starring John Mahoney and directed by BJ Jones, The Chicago Tribune has praised this play. “Mahoney — whose performance in director BJ Jones’ superb world-premiere production is, I think, the best work I’ve ever seen him do on stage — understands that the agony of suffering from progressive memory loss is not best reflected theatrically through trepidation and confusion. On the contrary, it is best expressed through strength. Only then do we understand what is being lost.”

The direction team has been distributing materials throughout the north side and northern suburbs of Chicago.

“Outgoing Tide” runs until July 3 at the Northlight Theatre. Please visit northlight.org for tickets, reviews, videos and more.

Eclipsed @ Northlight Theatre

Jan 14 2011

“Eclipsed” makes its Chicagoland debut this month at the Northlight Theatre in Skokie. Writer Danai Gurira wrote a play about the people in war that often get overlooked, the civilian women. The piece is about five captive ‘wives’ of a rebel officer fighting in the last six weeks of the Liberian Civil War. Gurira went to Liberia in 2007 to do research and out of that experience this play was born. The small cast provides an intimate experience for all theatergoers.

Direction handled the distribution of promotional materials, hitting the Northshore and Northside of Chicago. Direction printworks handled the printing of posters.

“Eclipsed” runs until February 20 at the Northlight Theatre. Please visit northlight.org for tickets and information.
