This summer, the world’s most popular jam band has returned for a full blown tour. Phish will make their way to Alpine Valley for two back to back performances.

Even though these shows aren’t until the end of the summer, we are in the midst of executing a quick distribution in Madison and Milwaukee. We have teams actively targeting college campuses hanging posters and distributing handbills before classes let out for the summer. If you’re a student in either of these cities, keep an eye out for out teams, and be sure to say hello!

Dave Matthews Band & Jack Johnson – Live Nation

Summertime means one thing: the start of tour season. This year, two jam band heavyweights take to the road and will make their way to Alpine Valley. The Dave Matthews Band will be playing two shows July 4th weekend. Jack Johnson, who is touring in support of his latest album To the Sea, will play at the end of July. 100% of his 2010 tour profits will be donated to charity.

Together with Live Nation, we will be promoting both of these shows. We printed posters for each artist which we are distributing throughout the Chicagoland area. Both acts are notorious for selling out amphitheaters, so be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible.

What’s to be said about MDQ that we haven’t said before? The runaway hit musical which is now on Broadway has a new cast and an extended run right here in Chicago! Come see the story of how Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley played at Sun Records’ storefront studio in Memphis for the first and only time.

We are working with our friends at Allied Live to launch another poster distribution in Chicago. We’ve been promoting MDQ since it first began two years ago, and we couldn’t be happier with the shows success. With performances scheduled through September, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t see it!

Our friends My My My are back with a brand new album! In support of Leather Silk My My My will be throwing a record release party to celebrate! Mid Season Refresh – Old Town School of Folk Music

As the year goes on, and we get closer to summer, expect to see more and more fantastic shows roll through the Old Town School of Folk Music. Spring performances by King Sunny Ade, Rahim Alhaj, and Les Primitifs du Futur will lead us right into summer.

Last month, we began working regularly with the folks at live nation promoting a variety of shows. This month, we have already begun several projects with them including Bamboozle and Maxwell/Jill Scott. We will be distributing materials in the city via our regualar retail routes and hand-2-hand distributions at various show hits. We previously mentioned that we will be distributing coasters to bars and venues in and around the Apollo Theater in support of the latest show extension of MDQ. In addition to that, we are also targeting Chicago campuses including Columbia College, Loyola, and DePaul for a massive poster distribution. Soon, the unstoppable Million Dollar Quartet will be debuting on Broadway. But, that doesn’t mean the curtain is closing in Chicago just yet. MDQ is back for another extension, this time through the month of March! This spring is looking like the best yet for Old Town School of Folk Music’s concert line up! With names like Booker T, John Prine, and Bela Fleck (pictured left), OTSFM is setting itself up for a very busy season.

We’ll be starting our distribution for OTSFM this week, bringing spring concert brochures all over the city. Tickets for the spring concerts went on sale to the general public this past Friday, but if you are a member of OTSFM, you can purchase tickets now!

Million Dollar Quartet: Holiday Distribution

If you were at the annual Lights Festival or Thanksgiving Day Parade, there’s a good chance you saw folks wearing Million Dollar Quartet banner packs, and handing out flyers to people waiting patiently for the parade. That was us! We handed out thousands of flyers (that we printed in house!) which contained $8 off coupons for tickets. MDQ has been running strong for over a year now, and is about to make the jump to New York for a run on Broadway. We have been involved with the production from day one, and were happy to do a holiday push. If you haven’t checked it out, go and see the show that has become a musical sensation!

Bob Dylan @ Aragon Ballroom

To help garner more attention for Bob Dylan & His Band’s three day residency at the Aragon, our friends at the Advice Agency commissioned us to print and distribute posters for the concerts. We printed a few hundred, and then proceeded to blanket the city with them. Thanks to the addition of our printworks division, direction has become a one stop for all of your promotional needs. Chicago indie heroes Wilco return home for two shows at the UIC Pavilion. Due to the first show selling out, a second one had to be added. We are helping getting the word out on the second show by printing posters through our new direction printworks division, and then distributing them throughout the city to colleges and different neighborhoods. Ever since the release of last year’s Little Cat Plays the Alpha Rave, Chicago band My My My has seen their star rise significantly. Between the glowing reviews of their album, and their exciting live performances, they are quickly becoming quite the underground sensation. That is why we are ecstatic to be working with them again for their upcoming show at the Bottom Lounge. My My My’s momentum has been steadily building up over the past few months, as they’ve gotten great reviews for their newest album Little Cat Plays the Alpha Rave. Hedwig and the Angry Inch @ the American Theater Company

John Cameron Mitchell’s off beat rock musical comes to Chicago for a run at the American Theater Company. “This is a Hedwig like none before” says ATC Artistic Director PJ Paparelli. We hit several shows over the weekend (including Morrissey @ the Aragon, and Lez Zepplin @ Double Door) in order to distribute flyers for this upcoming production. It kicks off this Thursday, so if you’re a fan of the original stage version and/or movie, be sure to check it out.
