Summer Dance Intensive @ Columbia College Chicago

trioInCourtyardThe Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago features a nationally respected academic program focusing on developing a personal voice and maturity in the dance artist.  The 2010 Summer Dance Intensive offers challenging technique courses across a range of styles including yoga, ballet, and modern dance techniques, and is open to degree-seeking and community students.  The Dance Center faculty is comprised of working artists, enhanced by national and international visiting artist-teachers.

Country Throwdown @ First Midwest Bank Pavilion

country_throwdownThe Country Throwdown Tour, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, is a multi-stage, multi-city summer run that launched on May 14th in Tampa, Florida, and is making it’s way to Tinley Park! The  lineup boasts a slew of country favorites including Jamey Johnson, Montgomery Gentry, Little Big Town, Jack Ingram, Eric Church, the Eli Young Band, and The Lost Trailers.

We executed a quick promotional distribution in support of this upcoming show here in Chicago, visiting country western stores throughout the surrounding suburbs.  If you’re a country music fan, this is one tour you won’t want to miss!

Mid Season Refresh – Old Town School of Folk Music

16_sunnyAs the year goes on, and we get closer to summer, expect to see more and more fantastic shows roll through the Old Town School of Folk Music. Spring performances by King Sunny Ade, Rahim Alhaj, and Les Primitifs du Futur will lead us right into summer.

We have launched a major distribution campaign in Chicago, distributing the mid season brochures for OTSFM. Be sure to pick one up to what other shows the famous instition has in store for us this year!

July at the Chicago History Museum

chmSummer is officially underway, and that means Chicago History Museum has added several fun summer themed activities to it’s roster.  Be sure to take advantage of the Paddle into the Past, Sunset Paddle, and Fireworks Paddle kayak tours.  Bring your significant (or not so significant) other to watch The Break Up as part of the Movies in the Park series.  And finally, don’t forget about the Devil in the White City Boat Tour.

Tuesdays on the Terrace @ MCA

21a64tuesdaysSummertime always ushers in a plethora of free outdoor musical performances in the city.  Be sure to take advantage of Tuesdays on the Terrace, where each week audiences are treated to live jazz while they relax and picnic at the MCA’s terraced garden.  Upcoming acts include Robert Irving III, Kevin Nabors, and the Green Mill Quartet.  Keep an eye out for the flyers we are distributing throughout the city which details each week’s musical act.

Tuesdays on the Terrace occurs every Tuesday from 5:30pm-8pm through September at the MCA.

June at the Chicago History Museum

chm2Summer is almost here, and the Chicago History Museum has lots of events lined up for the month of June.  A special boat tour sponsored by Goose Island will cover Chicago’s beer history during a sunset cruise.  In addition to the various cruises, CHM will also offer kayak tours on the Chicago River, and Project Sundays brings an interesting look at the world of fashion with the screening of a Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton documentary.

Lillstreet Summer Classes

lillstreetWith the arrival of spring (finally), Lillstreet is gearing up for their summer classes and sessions.  Offering courses in printmaking, painting, drawing and glass, Lillstreet is the place to go to learn one of these unique trades whether you’re a novice, or a seasoned crafts person.  There’s also Kidstreet, which offers classes for children.  Summer courses begin soon, so sign up now!

 

Early Summer classes at Lillstreet begin June 1.  Summer Classes begin July 8.
