Blackbird @ Victory Gardens Biograph Theatre

Jul 15 2009

blackbird-title-platelowrespreviewWilliam Petersen, former star of CBS-TV’s CSI, returns to the city where he first cut his chops as an actor.  For Victory Gardens’ latest production Blackbird (which is British Slang for “jailbird”) Petersen plays Ray, an ex con who reunites with his former lover from 15 years ago.  See the show the Associated Press calls ”a fascinating and unnerving ninety-minute cat and mouse tale of revenge and sexual intrigue, with genuine theatricality and undeniable shock value.”

Blackbird is playing at Victory Gardens Biograph Theatre through August 9th.

May 13 2009

love-person-mainpreview

Love Person asks the question, “can love transcend sexual orientation, physical attraction, and social structure, and rely instead on the ways in which people communicate?” Two couples, three cultures, and four languages blossom, break, sustain, repair, and flourish in this language laden love mystery, performed in American Sign Language, Sanskrit, English, and projected e-mail. This is the Chicago premiere of Love Person, and we are excited to be working another streetmarketing campaign with Victory Gardens.  Keep an eye out for flyers and posters at locations near you!

Love Person opens May 15th at Victory Gardens Biograph Theatre, and runs through June 14th.

Living Green @ the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater

Feb 05 2009

living-green-72newpreviewVictory Gardens always produces an eclectic range of plays.  From holiday themed productions, to comedy, they do it all.  We’re very excited to be working with Victory Gardens once again on one of their latest productions, Living Green.  Written by ensemble member Gloria Bond Clunie and directed by Andrea J. Dymond, Living Green explores the effects on an African American family when they move out of the “old neighborhood” and to a mostly white Chicago suburb. What happens to families as they “move up” and flee the black communities that once nurtured them?  The only way to find out, is to see the show.

Living Green is at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater through March 1st.
